In celebration of Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month, Save the Sound and the Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity, and Opportunity (CWCSEO) are partnering for a deep discussion focused on understanding the environmental challenges faced by Latine communities in Connecticut while also highlighting Latine leaders’ dedication to creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
Joining this discussion as keynote speaker is Nellie Gorbea, president and CEO of Puerto Rico’s Green Energy Trust. Her energy justice work will center the conversation on economic and environmental injustices experienced by Latine and Puerto Rican peoples living in the United States and abroad and offer solutions to those problems. Following the keynote address will be a panel of community leaders, academics, and government officials, and a legislative response panel.
When: Tuesday, October 15, 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Where: Room 2A of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Ave, Hartford, CT
Food and refreshments will be provided by Criollisimo Restuarant. Special thanks to Criollisimo and fellow endorsing organizations Acadia Center, Connecticut Green Bank, and Restore America’s Estuaries for their support!
