Community Meeting: Building Job Skills and Stewardship in Fair Haven

Save the Sound, EMERGE CT, and Junta for Progressive Action are teaming up to engage Fair Haven area community members in a three-part community meeting series as part our ongoing efforts to help urban, coastal community members and high school students build green job skills while stewarding the Haven & Exchange parklet. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

On the first Friday of every month, Save the Sound and CitySeed host a Friday Food Fest. In preparation for this event, we are looking for volunteers to help clean up the site and get it ready for the Food Fest.


City of Water Day – Volunteer Cleanup

July 25 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Wilsons Woods Park, Mount Vernon, NY

Join us for a volunteer cleanup in celebration of City of Water Day! We’ll be using the Clean Swell app to keep track of the trash we pick up at each cleanup. Download here: iOS or Android.

Paddle for the Sound

Grab your paddle and hit the water for 10 days of paddling to protect and improve Long Island Sound. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or just getting started, this friendly kayak, stand-up paddleboard, and canoe fundraiser welcomes all skill levels.

Adults $40, Youth (Under 14) $30


Join a Connecticut Cleanup

August 2026 – November 2026

Save the Sound hosts cleanups across Connecticut as part of the International Coastal Cleanup. Join us in helping clean up beaches, rivers, parks, and other natural spaces across the state. Don’t see a cleanup in your area? Become a Cleanup Captain, and we’ll provide you with the supplies you need to organize your own.

Drew Nemetz is swimming The English Channel to raise funds for Save the Sound

Drew Nemetz will take on one of the world’s toughest endurance challenges: a 21-mile swim across the English Channel this October. Inspired by a lifelong connection to the water and a passion for protecting Long Island Sound, Drew is dedicating his swim to support Save the Sound’s work to keep our waters clean, healthy, and accessible for future generations.
