Nico joined Save the Sound in April 2023 as a Fisheries Technician. As a member of the Ecological Restoration team, he works on ecological monitoring programs, promoting habitat restoration and supporting green infrastructure. He is also involved with the Soundkeeper team, assisting with the Lobster Trap Recovery Project and Eelgrass Restoration Project.

Originally from Lima, Peru, he brings over a decade of experience in marine biology and conservation projects. He has worked extensively with endangered marine species of the South Pacific — such as sharks and sea turtles — and with coastal communities through education activities, resulting in the publication of several scientific papers.

Nico earned a B.S. in Biology from Ricardo Palma University in Lima, where he studied the trophic ecology of hammerhead sharks in northern Peru. Prior to joining Save the Sound, he worked as a Science Educator at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.
