When the 2026 Long Island Sound Report Card is released in September, the biennial report will share water quality grades collected in bays and harbors around the Sound. The bay grades are based on data collected in 2025 through the Unified Water Study.
Join Save the Sound’s Peter Linderoth, our director of healthy waters and lands, and David Abreu, our clean water advocacy specialist, for a free webinar on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Peter, David, and some of our Unified Water Study partners will discuss:
- Bay grades: how they are determined, and how our bays and harbors fared in 2025;
- Water quality grades for the different open water segments of Long Island Sound (98% of which received a B or better in our 2024 Report Card);
- The growth of the Unified Water Study (UWS), currently in its 10th monitoring season;
- Trends identified by data collected over the first nine seasons of the UWS;
- Sources of nitrogen pollution that challenge water quality in our bays and harbors—particularly in the western Sound;
- What you can do to protect water quality in our bays and harbors.
