Alex studied at Clark University, SUNY-ESF, and the Conway School. His past career includes rare reptile research in the woods and swamps of Upstate New York; conservation land stewardship in his home state of Massachusetts with Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, Land Stewardship Inc., and MassWildlife; and riparian buffer planting projects in the Merrimack River watershed.

He joined Save the Sound’s team in 2019. He led the removal of Strong Pond Dam (a.k.a. Dana Dam) on the Norwalk River in 2023, and has worked on fishway design and construction, green stormwater infrastructure, living shorelines, and culvert right-sizing.
