Alex Rodriguez is Save the Sound’s inaugural Environmental Justice Specialist. Alex’s programmatic focuses include community organizing, policy advocacy, and storytelling. He is passionate about building an intergenerational, multi-racial, grassroots movement that protects working class residents from disproportionate pollution exposure and more access to blue and green spaces.
Through his time with Save the Sound, he has worked in coalition with youth leaders to move the Connecticut General Assembly’s passage of a cumulative impacts environmental justice law, mandatory climate change education, and a modernized bottle deposit rule.
Prior to joining Save the Sound, he served as Community Organizer to the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) and led a program called Chispa Connecticut to mobilize Latine communities for climate action. During his time with CTLCV, he mobilized youth activists for lobby days, voting rights phonebanks, and campaigned to bring the state’s first electric school bus to Middletown, CT.
Alex currently serves as Air & Transportation Subcommittee Chair of the CT Equity and Environmental Justice Advisory Council and is a member of the Long Island Sound Partnership’s Informed and Engaged Working Group.
