Join Save the Sound for the next outing of our month-long Nurdle Count.
Nurdles are tiny plastic spheres, a couple of millimeters in size, that serve as the raw material for the manufacturing of everyday plastic products. According to a report by Waterkeeper Alliance and other organizations focused on reducing plastic pollution, an estimated 200,000 metric tons—10 trillion nurdles—spill into our environment and wind up in our oceans every year.
We’re organizing Nurdle Count outings at several locations along the western Sound, working to fill a geographic gap in the data being collected. We’ll provide instructions and materials on site. Register to help us count (and remove) the nurdles we find at multiple stations at our weekly locations:
