Paddle for the Sound celebrates the rivers, lakes, ocean, and all greenspaces that make the Long Island Sound region truly spectacular. This friendly kayak, SUP, and canoe competition and fundraiser helps to protect our region and build a world where everyone feels welcome and has access to enjoy this beautiful estuary. Prize Package
Launch from anywhere and track your paddling miles for a chance win! Winners in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Total Distance Paddled with a kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or canoe over the duration of the event (July 31 – August 9) will be eligible to receive a prize package. Be sure to track every excursion!

Paddle for the Sound Fundraising
Each paddler is asked to raise a minimum of $150 by setting up a personal or team fundraiser to support our work across the Long Island Sound region.

How do I track my paddle distances?
We suggest using one of the following apps while you paddle:

Screenshot your distance through your selected app on EACH excursion you take. Instructions on how to submit the screenshots will be shared by email closer to the event date.
Where should I paddle?
You are welcome to use your kayak, paddleboard, or canoe at any of your favorite launch points. You may paddle in any body of water, including the Sound, rivers, bays, lakes, etc. If you need ideas, visit our Sound Health Explorer and select “Kayak Launches” on the left-hand side to see over 100 launches surrounding Long Island Sound.
How do I create my fundraising page?

How do I share about Paddle for the Sound?
Share how you’re paddling and raising money for the health of the Sound. Tag Save the Sound when you share photos and videos, and be sure to use the hashtag #PaddlefortheSound!
If I am unable to paddle, how can I still participate?
You can still join this event and make a big difference! Create a fundraising page (instructions here) and share your fundraising goal with friends and family. Spreading awareness goes a long way for the protection and preservation of Long Island Sound.
